THE GOLDMOOR INN’S WINTER FLIGHT PACKAGE OFFERS RARE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW AMERICAN BALD EAGLE’S IN NATURAL HABITAT

Galena, IL – November 28, 2016 - The Goldmoor Inn unveils its 2017 “Winter Flight Package” featuring a luxurious escape to historic Galena, IL and the rare opportunity to witness the American Bald Eagle in its natural habitat along the mighty Mississippi River. This limited-availability package includes Friday and Saturday night accommodations and participation in a Saturday tour led by a world-renowned naturalist to the nesting grounds and habitats where wintering bald eagles nest each year.

“We have been fortunate to see the magnificent American Bald Eagles soaring past our Inn and the opportunity to package this expertly-guided tour with a weekend getaway is a special experience that will hopefully provide long-lasting memories for guests,” says Birgit Radin, co-owner of the bed and breakfast that is modeled after an early 1900s English castle.

The four-hour Saturday excursions bring attention to the importance of caring for the habitats these endangered birds require. Terrence N. Ingram, a naturalist, researcher and author, has conducted tours for over 50 years and the weekend tour participants can observe bald eagles--the only eagle unique to North America--at four historic wintering areas, in feeding and roosting areas and bald eagle nests, and possibly migrating. Ingram discusses the eagles’ life history and shares his research on these birds for an educational and fully-engaging guest experience.

The Goldmoor Inn’s “Winter Flight Package” is available Friday-Saturday, January 20 and 21 (which also includes a champagne reception with that week’s featured Artist in Residence), February 11 and 12 and February 24-25. Each package includes private transportation to and from the tour meeting point, and includes two nights at the stunning 21-acre property, gourmet breakfasts served each morning, and a $50 food and beverage credit to be used for room service or in the gourmet restaurant. Each of the individually-decorated luxury suites is complete with fresh flowers, a spa-like bath, cozy fireplace, roomy whirlpool tub, kitchenette with a private dining area, and incredible views. Prices begin at $717 per couple.
